During the founding of "the Geopark Week", elementary schools located in the Papuk Geopark held presentations where school children could meet the geological heritage of their area, and the way the Geopark takes care of protecting geologically important areas.

"Geopark Week" in Slatina

In occasion of „the Geopark Week“ in the Slatina City Library an event was held to celebrate the „International Year of Planet Earth“. The staff of the Papuk Geopark held a presentation on the subject of Planet Earth, which talks about the geological history of the Earth and the problems that threaten our planet as we speak, caused by the deeds of man.

A seminar on the world's largest neanderthal finding site

The Krapina early man, scientifically known as Homo sapiens neanderthalensis, was found back in 1899 on the Hušnjakovo hill in Krapina. The famous geologist Dragutin Gorjanović - Kramberger found a total of 876 separate fossil remains of humans thanks to which Krapina is now a part of the world legacy as the world's richest neanderthal finding site.

The 21st meeting of the EGN Coordination committee

The meeting of the Coordination committee of the European Geoparks Network was held from the 1st to the 4th of April in the Italian Geopark Beigua. The participants of the meeting were the members of committees from all 32 European Geoparks.

The Meet Your Geopark project

The European Geoparks Network, in cooperation with UNESCO, started the "Meet Your Geopark" project. The project is placed in a direction towards young people, and designed as a competition of school teams who will try to present "their" Geopark the best they can.
The best projects will be shown on the International conference in Osnabrück, Germany, which will be held in June 2008.

These web-sites for the project are made by the Požega Technical School team.
